    Falwell dead

    Good riddance.

The Moral Majority? What a joke, and an oxymoron. It was neither moral (what televangelist is? Bakker? Swaggert? Roberts? Tilton? Popoff?), nor a majority. They are an example of American Religious Extremism, and my sincere hope is that Falwell's death creates a vacuum upon which the whole organization collapses.

Explain to me how is it this organization wields so much power with government officials, yet we're supposed to have separation of church and state?

    Mother's Day 2007

It's that time of year again. Moms are celebrated
around the world for the simple reason that we are
moms. We are jointly scared and thrilled when the
rabbit dies, then spend the next 9 or so months in a
love/hate relationship with our bodies and our
babies. From the first kick to the last birthing
contractions, we are faced with the wonder that is
to bring another human being into this world. The
range of emotions motherhood brings us is as rich
and varied as the children who spring forth from our
wombs. The rollercoaster ride that is being a mother
is never ending, and once you get on, you can never
get off. Fortunately, we are (for the most part)
divinely designed to weather the ride, even in the
     scary parts.

Today I'm thankful for my mother who raised me to be
the fiery independent spirit that I am, and I'm
thankful for Kyle and Ian, cause without them, I
     wouldn't be Mom.

To each of you, I wish for you a happy day. Hug your
kidlings, and hug yourselves. Tomorrow we can all
worry about the growing pile of laundry and the
stack of dishes in the sink. Today, we are queens of
     our domains.

    Dogwood Festival and Belly Dance

So there I was....Bold and brazen, dancing in the street. Loving every minute of it. Now I realize I'm not the first thing that rushes to mind when one thinks belly dancer, but it's just so much FUN.

Belly dance as it turns out, is the perfect crosstraining exercise for runners. Well, at least it is for me. Running for endurance, dancing for grace and fluidity. It works for me. My husband likes the results, so there's another bonus, right?

That's all I've got. More again later.........
