2/26/2006 People find me in the oddest waysChecking statistics, someone looking for a sneezing redhead found me. I thought this was hysterically funny, and frankly, humor is something I could use alot of these days....
2/25/2006 Stressful daysSo I'm feeling better, the coughing and sniffles are gone. But the school work is ramping up, as expected. And the moody boy teen is being his usual moody boy self. One vehicle is in the shop, so one vehicle being shared by two adults in the house is not really working for me. My mother-in-law is coming to visit, and really, whose house is ever "ready" for an in-law visit, right? But the toughest thing for me right now is that my dad is in the hospital, and he's never been a model patient, and he's worse now as a patient than ever. He wants to go home, natch, but the doctors say only if he has 24-hr medical care....so instead of going home, he's in rehab. My sister, the appointed caregiver (thank god Mom and Dad put all this on paper in front of a lawyer years ago. I can't even bear the thought of the horrible alternative...) she's having a real tough time dealing with the whole situation. I'm in NC, they're all in CA, so now I have to get on a plane and fly out. It's not the traveling that has me stressin, and I knew I'd have to make this trip eventually...I just hate L.A. so much, and LAX is the worst part of L.A. Then the joy that is driving in L.A. traffic, just to get out of the city, just to get up to see Daddy. **sigh** It's no wonder I've had a headache for 3 days now.
I would just like to say right now to J: thank you, for just being here. Your love and support is more than greatly appreciated. It reminds me how much it hurts when you're gone, and how wonderful it is when you're home. I'm just sorry that your homecomings always seem to be filled with some sort of drama. One day, you'll have a homecoming that will be drama free....and that'll be the ride home for your retirement ceremony, right? I love you.

Take a Chance more again later..... 2/11/2006 Past 2 weeksJ has been home for 2 weeks now, and I've pretty much been sick the whole time. I'm gonna chalk it up to stress. Stress from him being gone, then stress from the anticipation of his return, stress from dealing with a recalcitrant teen, stress from school, and stress from thinking up what to write in my blog. Ok, scratch that last one. That's not reallly a stressor. But anyway, so here I am, sneezing, sniffling, hacking, wheezing, coughing like I'm near death. How sexy is that? Not. That's the answer. Not sexy at all. The good news is that today I'm actually feeling better than I have in 2 weeks. I'm hoping that means I've turned the corner, and health is on the mend.
I haven't been sick like this in a long time. Like 3 or 4 years now. Used to be I'd get an annual cold, be down for a coupla days, and that would be the end of it. I was pondering all this while drifting off to lala land after taking some "may cause marked drowsiness" cold tablets. I'm guessing that's why I'm down so long with this one.
Let me just say something about this "may cause marked drowsiness" business. I'm calling bullshit. Yeah, it made me sleepy, after taking the 3rd dose of the day (2 pills every 4 hours, just like it says on the package). But then, I could typically take a nap about 3 in the afternoon whether there was a cold medication involved or not. And don't you just want to sleep away a cold anyway, taking medication or not?
So, I'm feeling better (somewhat...) and thought maybe I could get some stuff done around the house. What a laugh! My husband has all his gear in the living room, and in the kitchen, and it's stuff he has to go thru and put away, only there's no storage room because we still don't have the shed in the backyard, and the guest bedroom is currently being used as storage and it's filled to the brim with stuff that should be in a storage shed (if only we had one), and it's raining and the dog is fussy and doesn't want to "go" outside when it's raining. And all of a sudden, feeling better doesn't feel as good as I hoped it would.
Maybe I should make a cup of tea, throw in a shot of whiskey, and pop in a chick flick while father and son watch a Battlestar Galactica marathon. They can be all testosteroney together, and I can further nurse myself back to better health without being disturbed.
HAHAHAHAHA
Oh, I am one disturbed woman, with or without spouse and child...............
more again later....... 2/3/2006 Homecoming BluesOf course I'm delighted, beyond delighted, that J is finally home. But I'm battling a chest cold, coughing and hacking and wheezing. Not the homecoming I had envisioned, certainly not what J had bargained for. **sigh** So I'll go back to bed now, and cover up, and maybe sweat it all out soon. Hopefully by Sunday, so we can go watch the Super Bowl and hang out with fellow SB revelers. |
